When #BCSM started in the summer of 2011, I never imagined the community would grow beyond the virtual confines of Twitter. Almost 4 years later, I’m still amazed and in awe of the collective wisdom and extraordinary passion that embodies the community of #BCSM.
One particular aspect of our community that has always fascinated me is the creative element that the community shares. Many of you are bloggers, authors, painters, pottery makers, bakers, and knitters. Many of you found this creative outlet after your initial diagnosis. Some of you blogged about your journeys, many wrote books, some painted, and others turned to baking, cooking and other culinary outlets. Where does this creativity come from? Is it a way to deal with the intense stress and pressure that comes with a cancer diagnosis? Was this creative talent just waiting to be activated?
If you blogged, wrote a book, became a photographer, or started a creative pursuit while going through your journey, let us know in the comments. We’re excited to review this questions in our next chat!
Did you pick up a new creative endeavor at some point during your cancer journey? Were you always a writer, artist, photographer and found a stronger draw to this creative outlet during your cancer journey?
Let’s discuss how you went from crisis to creative!
